KUALA LUMPUR: It is a custom to give bunga telur as a gesture of thanks to guests at Malay weddings but one lucky couple had a six-metre tall arrangement of the flowers, which set a record in the Malaysia Book Of Records.
Newly-weds Siti Nor Aisah Saffinee and Kamal Firdaus Sahak celebrated their marriage with the bunga pahar arrangement, made out of 7,000 bunga telur in pink and purple flowers.
The flower arrangement, with a circumference of 12 metres was created by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) staff members over four days and made it to the Malaysia Book Of Records as the largest bunga pahar in the country.
"I'm speechless. It is such an honour for us to celebrate our wedding with such a feat," said Kamal, when met at the wedding at Medan MARA here Sunday.
Kamal and Siti were chosen by the Federal Territory Baitumal for their wedding to be sponsored.
"We applied for financial aid as we did not have enough means to afford a nice wedding.
“We are really grateful to be selected," said Siti.
Their wedding was held as part of MARA's wedding festival, which seeks to promote local entrepreneurs involved in bridal services and the wedding industry.
It was learnt that the bunga pahar will be given to charity organisations and donated to flood victims.
